Bergen County, NJ – April 23, 2025 – Building on a wave of growing support, Emil “Yitz” Stern and Rosemary Hernandez Carroll have earned a powerful joint endorsement from Teach NJ PAC, the New Jersey Solidarity Network (led by former Jewish Federation of Northern NJ* presidents Lee Lasher and Dan Shlufman), and the Bergen County Jewish Action Committee (BCJAC). BCJAC had previously announced its support of the slate.
While BCJAC formally endorsed Stern and Hernandez Carroll earlier in the campaign, the organization joined this joint announcement to underscore the shared priorities and growing unity among Jewish leaders and advocacy groups across District 37. Together, these organizations reaffirm their trust in Stern and Hernandez Carroll to champion the values that matter most: education, safety, and equity.
“This is more than an endorsement. It’s a call to action,” said Stern. “We are committed to protecting our schools, our values, and the safety of every resident in District 37. Rosemary and I will continue standing up for our communities and showing up where it counts.”
In their joint endorsement letter, the organizations cited the candidates’:
- Strong advocacy for nonpublic school families, including a commitment to making Jewish day schools more accessible and affordable
- Pledge to lead on antisemitism legislation, including sponsoring the IHRA bill in New Jersey
- Alignment with elected officials and community leaders who prioritize equity, education, and security for all residents
“As a mother and a product of public schools who deeply values educational choice, access, and cultural inclusion, this endorsement is especially meaningful,” said Hernandez Carroll. “We will continue to uplift every voice, fight for policies that support all families, and build a future where no community is left behind.”
This announcement builds on the slate of endorsements previously released by the campaign, which includes support from key municipal leaders, educational advocates, and community organizers across Bergen County.
Stern and Hernandez Carroll are running for the New Jersey General Assembly in Legislative District 37. The Democratic Primary will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
